The Grove Community

Feb 2016 The Grove – Woodville Gardens UCA, Community Garden and Op Shop
66 Ridley Grove, Woodville Gardens 5012

This month Faith in Action visited The Grove.  You may know it as Woodville Gardens.

The whole site is undergoing transformation.  We were impressed and amazed with the work Lyn was doing. The Grove consists of The Uniting Church congregation, The Op Shop and the Community Garden.  The local school and community members use the garden.
The work that has been done on the environment is amazing such that we could hear the constant croaking of frogs over lunch.  There is a building project going on at the Grove and we’ve been invited to return when it is completed.  I’m certainly looking forward to being at the opening of the new space. I’m sure that the photos convey a sense of the Grove, its issues and opportunities.
Over lunch we discussed and made a list of other churches worth visiting starting with Kippax in Canberra.  So it was agreed that FiA would organise transport to visit Canberra in August this year.  My heart jumped for joy!  And I think the new members of FiA were surprised at how quickly Geoff and I focussed on “Yep – we can do this!”   If you are interested please register your interest on the RoadTrip website.
For those of us following ‘governance shapes’ it is interesting in the way that the Congregation appears to be a subset of The Grove.
Thanks Lyn and Mike for showing us around the Grove Community.
